The paintings in this body of work are about many things, but they are very much about setting up rules, and breaking those rules. The lines, which act as independent figures combine in quadrants which at first have an order, but as they are hand-made, and spontaneously generated, their order is only a simulation. As each quadrant or coalescence of lines interact with others, the apparent order breaks down further. What looks like organization is in fact chaos. – Andrew Rubinstein
