This strange little bach (holiday cottage) was built by my parents, with recycled bits, in some lovely remote bay in New Zealand. This was built before I was born and was sold when I was a baby. I visited it one time later with my much older siblings. They walked around and were just full of all these memories and experiences I never knew about or had shared with them. It was fascinating. I loved that day. It was very special so it became this painting. I love the contrast of gestural marks on the left with the detail in the plants coming forward on the right, which in some ways, is like my family story coming into focus.
