TEENAGE KICKS by Hibiki Miyazaki
August 27th – Sept 26th
Contemporary artist Hibiki Miyazaki lives and works in Portland, Oregon. With a background in intaglio printmaking, drawing, and engraving, her oeuvre includes an assemblage of mixed media materials.
Her fantastical and mysterious imagery emerges improvisationally, using her stores of references including vintage magazines, old photographs, and retro printed ephemera as ample inspiration.
“Miyazaki conjures up surreal narratives through a mixture of painting, drawing, print and handwritten word.”
– Gayle Clemans, Seattle Times
Inquiry: GOOSED by Hibiki Miyazaki
“I like the combination of slow, detailed mark-making and fast, childlike energetic mark-making.
The fast mark-making is a response to the sometimes precious slow mark-making at the start.”
– Hibiki Miyazaki
