"I see the bees as flying paintings."
They are made of found objects, newspaper, covid masks, door screen, twine, etc. Each one is different. After building the armature out of found objects Cooper coats them in plaster. The final step is to paint them in encaustic. Encaustic is made of bees wax, damar varnish and pigment. These bees were painted with R&F Pigments and finished during the R&F residency at Brown Pink in the Hudson Valley.
