Really a very big dam, on this day filled with the reflections of clouds and the trees on a little island, also reflected. Again, a drawing began the process, and a decision is made once I return to the studio as to which drawings feel like they want to be paintings. This farm is surrounded by alpine country (native trees and grasses and gorgeous rocks), around the house paddock the farmer had planted deciduous European trees which in Autumn bring colours not otherwise seen. A shock of colour on and around the dam and the freshness of the day’s clouds reflected in the large dam." - Lynne Flemons
