I was..."This painting took a couple of stays at Nimmitabel to resolve as I needed to do some more drawing from the same location to give me some tips. I was aiming to capture the feeling that this landscape evokes. It was a misty morning from the bedroom window where I watched a wombat waddle, down past the old bit of fence left remaining, during heavy rain (on another occasion). The layering of the trees which were just coming into leaf early Spring proved to be a challenge with all the linework. The resolve to try the contrasting blue shape of the lake helped to balance the composition. Now I love this painting’s softness and the memory of its difficult birth (I nearly gave up on it several times.)" - Lynne Flemons
