"A very cold winter’s day with two trees and their reflections. I was looking at Matisse at the time and colour. It was my first visit to Nimmitabel and I was drawing on the lake’s edge in my winter gear. It was very cold and crisp and the crispness of the tree branches was interpreted in dark purple with a pale warm halo to make the subject stand out. I had quite a few goes at getting the crispness to feel right, especially with such bold shapes in the centre of the composition. With the help of Matisse I introduced some bold blues and greens and now it feels complete." - Lynne Flemons
