"I have been thinking more about personifying certain spirits or energies that connect to how I am growing and changing. In this image I imagined a water spirit that draws up from a deep well and arches over the human figure, the human figure is resting on a giant coming up from underground - somewhat like the elephant and the rider metaphor, where the rider is the rational self, the elephant is the emotional self - which is perhaps bigger and stronger. The rational self is releasing a constructed bird that represents freedom and healing." –Betsy Walton
