“These images are an entry into an imaginary geometric
world constructed of light and color, where things are
rarely as they seem.
Are the structures strong or weak and fragile?
Are the elements stabilizing or coming apart?
These images are my response to our architectural
environment. Each image is a conversation without words,
about the unstable but intriguing world that we have created.”

“How does rapid change in a city effect our sense of community
and our sense of place? What is the role and place of humble
historic materials such as layers of paint, weathered wood and
rough stone, in a rapidly expanding 21 st century city?
I explore these ideas through the medium of animated films
which relate directly to the images in my paintings and mixed
media works on paper.
The images in this new animation question, with moving images
and sound, how imagination, geometry, structure and materials
relate to our physical and cultural environment on a macro as
well as micro level.”

“With this collection I am exploring ideas related to my
interest in space, mapping, motion and light, inspired by
my ongoing fascination with current scientific inquiry in
the fields of physics, astronomy and biology.
The aesthetics of information – the way in which complex
ideas and discoveries are communicated visually as well as
the impact those images have on our understanding of
the world – inform my work.
This collection of works on paper were created by layering
prints of my own photographs of light phenomena and it’s
movement through various materials with hand drawn maps
of astronomical objects such as nebulae. Each work is one
of a kind and includes hand painted diagrams, collaged
graphs and relief printed geometric objects.”
