Hibiki Miyazaki US, b. 1974

Overview
Miyazaki spent her childhood in New York City and her teenage years, Western Massachusetts. Her father was a very talented woodworker/sculptor and her mother was the illustrator of many children’s books. Miyazaki attended Art School at the Maryland Institute College of Art where she fell in love with Printmaking but dropped out in the middle of her sophomore year to see the world, finally settling in Portland, OR. There she took a position with a small company etching / engraving pictures of client’s family members, beloved dogs, favorite foods, family cabins and all manner of strange things onto headstones. It was at there she discovered how to sandblast copper plates for her printmaking projects creating the velvety, soft tones in her dream-like images. She has exhibited across the United States and her work is held in several prominent collections including Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland Art Museum, and the Hallie Ford Museum.
